Baltic Countries professional skills competition for metalworking and mechanical engineering students of vocational education institutions

On 8 – 9th September 2023 Association of Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking Industries of Latvia (MASOC) in cooperation with Federation of Estonian Engineering Industry (Estonia), Lithuanian engineering industries association (Lithuania), Tehnobuss Latvia (Latvia), Vilnius Technology and Engineering Training Center (Lithuania), Merkuur OÜ (Estonia), Zemgale Region Human Resource and Competences Development Centre, ZRKAC (Latvia) organizes the professional skills competition of the Baltic countries at the ZRKAC premises in Jelgava, Latvia.

9 teams from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will compete in one of three disciplines - mechanical engineering technician/welder (MAG)/ CNC setter.

During the competition, each team will present previously prepared homework and compete in the performance of theory and practical work in the professional field.

In order to evaluate the performance of the teams, representatives of MM industry companies have been invited to the competition jury.

The best teams from previous organized national competitions will participate in the competition: from Latvia - Valmiera technical school; Riga Metalworking Vocational High School; Riga Technical College, from Lithuania - Vilnius Technology and Engineering Training Centre, Alytus vocational Training Centre, Kaunas Technology Training Center, from Estonia - Tallinn Lasnamäe School of Mechanics, Tartu Vocational College.

The competition is supported by industry companies such as ESAB OY Latvia affiliate; AGAMIKS; Naglis&ERR;  Speciāls elektrods; Mitutoyo Polska Sp.z o.o; BMdeco; Signum; Silmor; Valpro; LS Steel; SFM LATVIA;  HEIDELBERG MATERIALS SBC LATVIA; Waldec Group; Eko El; TS RĪGA; LATVIJAS FINIERIS Equipment Plant; Metālmeistars; EXIGUM; DUROC MACHINE TOOL; METLAT; J.J.Steel; Tibnor Latvia; SSAB EUROPE, Ruukki Products, etc.

The competition is created under Erasmus+ program project “Baltic VET competition for smart growth” (SmartGrowth), project No. 2021-1-LV01-KA220-VET-000025155.
